Cat Yoga at a Rescue Café: A Purrfect Path to Mindfulness & Flexibility

Yoga is often used as a complementary therapy to improve both mental balance and physical well-being. I gave it a shot a decade ago, but the whole mindfulness movement didn’t stick for me at the time. Instead, I chased more intense workouts, hoping for visible results. However, after going through uncertainty during the pandemic, I have gained a newfound appreciation for having a balanced state of mind and being healthy, regardless of my weight.
It would be kind of amazing if my laptop had a built-in posture corrector or nudged me to do quick stretches now and then — cat-inspired stretches preferably.
Their bodies are so flexible that they can run extremely fast (e.g., cheetah cats are the fastest animals on the ground) and rotate their spines (e.g., jumping high and catching prey in the air). Ever wondered how cats always manage to fold themselves into impossibly small boxes? That’s their magical flexibility at work. I even saw a video where a cat wiggles into a bowl that’s way too tiny — no rules, just feline physics.
I’m excited to try a beginner-friendly cat yoga class this fall. It blends everything I’ve come to value: playfulness, wellness, and rescue animal support.
