My Debut Book of Animal Storytelling: WHEN A CAT FOUND ME

From Skeptic to Cat Person

I am excited to announce that my debut nonfiction book When a Cat Found Me is officially available on Amazon! 😻

It’s the true story of how one skeptical, non-animal person (me) got swept into the world of whiskers, purrs, and unexpected advocacy. What started as a passing curiosity turned into a full-blown journey — from hamsters and bunnies to tuxedo cats and cat cafés. Somewhere along the way, I found myself fiercely dedicated to animal protection and giving voice to overlooked creatures like stray cats, using stories to illuminate their lives and reshape how we treat them.

💡 Why I Chose Storytelling as My Path to Animal Advocacy

At one point, I thought about working at an animal shelter. But I soon realized that direct involvement in urgent or heartbreaking situations wasn’t something I could handle personally. So I asked myself: How can I still make a difference?

For me, the answer was storytelling. Through emotionally honest, relatable narratives, I explore creative ways to reduce the number of animals facing hardship, and shine a light on why animal-involved issues affect our health (especially psychological health) and safety. When serious topics are translated into relatable stories, more people lean in. And when they do, change becomes possible.

📚 What’s Inside the Book

Each chapter offers glimpses of life with cats and dives into larger questions around:

  • The difference between stray vs. feral cats
  • Animal rescue efforts across the world
  • The ethics of animal cafes and commercialized pets
  • What makes a cat person (and why cats unlock creativity)
  • How to build compassionate social systems for animals

You’ll also meet the tuxedo cat who is the pillar of my inspirations —the one good-looking cat (see Chapter 6) who proved that advocacy can start with one pawprint.

❤️ What I Hope Readers Take Away

This book is for anyone who’s ever felt uncertain around animals — and for those already deep in the cat universe who know how powerful these creatures are.

Whether you’re curious, cautious, or completely obsessed, there’s something here for you.

Cats showed me that kindness spreads fastest through stories, and if this one makes you laugh or pause to rethink how we treat animalswell, then it’s already doing what I hoped it would.
